New Financial Year Reset—Building a smarter property and wealth strategy

Last Thursday evening, WIN members came together for New Financial Year Reset, an evening designed to help women approach the year ahead with greater clarity, confidence, and strategy.

Hosted in partnership with Rethink Group, the event reflected WIN's evolving approach to member programming, delivering tailored learning experiences centred around the topics our community is most eager to learn more about. Across our membership, areas such as managing risk, protecting wealth, portfolio construction, investing in shares and ETFs, and using property strategically continue to generate strong interest.

With a focus on property investment, leverage and lending structures, the evening brought together business owners, founders and senior professionals seeking to better understand how property can form part of a broader wealth-building strategy.

The discussion featured an expert panel comprising Meg Saraswat, Jamie Orr and Sunny Wilkinson, who shared practical insights into the opportunities and challenges facing property investors in today's market. Drawing on their professional experience, the panel explored lending strategies, investment structures and the importance of taking a long-term approach to wealth creation.

A timely conversation, the session also examined the impact of evolving market conditions, including tighter lending requirements and policy changes affecting property investors off the back of the recent Federal Budget announcement. Panellists discussed how education and strategic planning can help investors navigate uncertainty and make informed decisions with confidence.

Key themes from the event included:

  • Building wealth requires a long-term perspective, supported by clear goals and a well-considered strategy.

  • Understanding lending structures and leverage can unlock opportunities while helping investors manage risk.

  • Market conditions will continue to change, making financial education and informed decision-making more important than ever.

  • Property can play a valuable role within a diversified wealth-building portfolio when approached strategically.

  • Confidence comes from knowledge, preparation and understanding the options available to you as an investor.

A huge thank you to our panellists, Meg Saraswat, Jamie Orr and Sunny Wilkinson, and to our members for bringing thoughtful questions, diverse perspectives and a genuine appetite to learn.
